Travelling is without a doubt an incredible way to learn about the world that surrounds us. It is perfect to learn in depth a new language, to put into practice what you have learned in the classroom. It is also the most efficient way to break your habits and your daily routine. When travelling, you probably gain a new perspective on your own life and reconsider things you thought were difficult when you realize that others live with only the bare necessities.
But it is not the only way to learn about yourself, far from it. There is not absolute need to go abroad to find yourself. Your journey can be an inner journey. Some people decide to dedicate part of their free time to helping other people who are in need for assistance. This means that you take on new responsibilities, that you become accountable for what you do, or don't do. It also implies that you have to be a reliable person as so many people count on you.
To learn about yourself, you may also take a more radical decision such as changing job. In today's world, nothing is to be taken for granted and one person may have several jobs over the course of his/her life. This is quite a challenging decision which demands both courage and determination. To change job means that you accept to learn new things, that you renounce the safety of your usual environment.
To conclude, we can say that there are plenty of different ways to learn about ourselves, we only need to find the one that best suits us in order to be as beneficial as possible.
